Independent Control. Individualized Support.
The Flexion Control Dial, or FCD, gives clinicians a simple mechanical way to control permitted knee flexion on select Icarus braces.
The FCD functions as a secondary inelastic assistive and unloading system. This allows flexion control to any degree and is adjustable instantly based on the patient’s needs.
With adjustable flexion settings and full extension lockout up to -20 degrees, the FCD expands how clinicians can configure the Icarus bracing platform.

Patient needs can change throughout treatment and rehabilitation.
The FCD gives clinicians the ability to:
01
Adjust permitted knee flexion
02
Lock the knee in full extension when needed
03
Adjust flexion position to any degree (-20 to 150)
04
Modify settings without changing mechanical stop components
05
Progress settings as patient needs change
06
Maintain mechanical, non-electronic control
Following knee surgery, patients may require different levels of flexion restriction and stance support as rehabilitation progresses.
For postoperative protocols requiring restricted knee flexion, controlled range of motion, or full extension lockout, the FCD allows clinicians to adjust the Kronos as prescribed range of motion changes.
This may be applicable across rehabilitation following procedures such as ligament reconstruction, meniscal repair, osteotomy, and other knee surgeries requiring progressive range of motion management.

Patients with significant knee instability, severe quadriceps weakness, or recurrent knee buckling may require greater resistance than traditional bracing to prevent unwanted knee flexion during weight bearing and mobility.
When integrated into the Icarus KAFO platform, the FCD allows clinicians to limit permitted knee flexion or provide full extension lockout when greater mechanical stability is needed.
Flexion settings can then be adjusted as the patient’s strength, stability, and functional requirements change. Stroke patients may start with the inelastic system, and transition to the elastic system as their mobility improves.
