Knee Osteoarthritis in Your 40s: Why Younger Adults Are Being Diagnosed
For a long time, knee osteoarthritis was filed away as something to worry about in your seventies. So it can come as a shock to hear the diagnosis in your […]
The Hypnos Hip Abduction Brace provides dynamic, patient-adjustable assistance for patients with Trendelenburg gait and hip abductor weakness. Its tensioning system supplements deficient gluteus medius and minimus function to help hold the pelvis level during walking and reduce compensatory trunk lean.
Unlike traditional hip braces that primarily restrict motion, Hypnos provides active abduction assistance during walking. Developed in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons Dr. James Genuario and Dr. Michael Ellman, Hypnos allows patients to adjust assistance using the tension dial and release tension with a single press.
An optional shoulder strap increases abduction force and helps distribute the load across the hip and shoulder. For patients who require motion restrictions, an optional polycentric range-of-motion hinge allows clinicians to limit hip flexion and extension.
Designed, engineered, and manufactured in Charlottesville, Virginia, Hypnos is available in custom-fabricated and prefabricated custom-fit models. It is designed to complement physical therapy and clinical management, including post-operative rehabilitation when prescribed.
Our data-driven solutions are engineered to maximize your quality of life. Our current users have indicated major improvements in their pain, function, and activity while using their Ascender Brace. Our technology is backed by collaborations with industry leading surgeons, engineers, and research institutions.
